Introduction & Contact
After growing up and attending college in idyllic small town Oxford, Ohio, home to Miami University, I moved to New York City in 1994. Within a few months of arriving, while working in a research department at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, I began taking weekly hand building classes at a community pottery studio on the city’s Upper West Side. I knew immediately—maybe even before beginning—that I wanted to make ceramics my life. From that point on, I pursued it steadily, if not a bit windingly, while I worked myriad administrative jobs and at several entrepreneurial endeavors, including freelance journalism, a jewelry making business, and a NYC-based eco-friendly cleaning business.
Now I live in Yonkers, New York with my plant-fiend husband and our two beagles. In 2014 I opened Yonkers Pottery, where I teach weekly classes.
